На 25 март т.г. посланик Лъчезар Петков участва в среща-обяд с членовете на организацията „Potomac Exchange” по тяхна покана. В организацията членуват изпълнителни директори на водещи американски компании, банки и неправителствени организации.
На срещата бяха представени следните американски компании и банки: Bechtel; Burns & Roe Enterprises; Chrysler; Coca Cola; Eastman Kodak; General Electric; Bank of America; HSBC, Lockheed Martin; Merrill Lynch; Minnesota, Mining & Manufacturing (3M); Mitsubishi; Oracle; Raytheon; Rockwell Collins; Sikorsky Aircraft; TYCO; Washington Convention and Tourism Corporation; Very Sign. Посланик Петков запозна участниците в срещата с основните външнополитически приоритети на България, вътрешното положение, отражението на световната икономическа и финансова криза върху развитието на българската икономика, отношенията със САЩ и ЕС, усвояването на европейските фондове, борбата с корупцията Специално внимание бе отделено на възможностите за развитие на различни форми на туризъм (селски, културен и балнеоложки).
Подчертани бяха усилията на страната ни за диверсивикация на енергийните източници чрез реализирането на различни енергийни проекти. Откроено бе приоритетното значение на развитието на търговското и икономическото сътрудничество със САЩ и ролята, която представените американски банки и компании могат да имат в това направление. Специално бе подчертана необходимостта от включването на България в Програмата за безвизово пътуване на САЩ и широкият отзвук, който този въпрос има сред общественото мнение в България.

Ambassador Latchezar Petkov briefed members of the Potomac Exchange organization

On March 25th H.E. Latchezar Petkov took part in a luncheon with members of the Potomac Exchange organization at their invitation. The organization encompasses the CEOs of leading US companies, banks and NGOs.
The luncheon was attended by representatives of Bechtel, Burns & Roe Enterprises; Chrysler; Coca Cola; Eastman Kodak; General Electric; Bank of America; HSBC; Lockheed Martin; Merrill Lynch; Minnesota, Mining & Manufacturing (3M); Mitsubishi; Oracle; Raytheon; Rockwell Collins; Sikorsky Aircraft; TYCO; Washington Convention and Tourism Corporation; VeriSign. Ambassador Petkov briefed the participants in the meeting on the key foreign policy priorities of Bulgaria, the domestic state of affairs, the effects of the global financial crisis on the Bulgarian economy, bilateral relations with the US and with the EU, the absorbtion of EU funds and combating corruption. Special attention was also paid to the opportunities for different forms of tourism (rural, cultural and spa tourism).
An emphasis was put on our country’s efforts in the diversification of energy sources through the implementation of a number of energy projects. The participants identified the priority of trade and economic relations with the United States and the role the represented banks and companies could play. The need for including Bulgaria in the Visa Waiver Program was reiterated as well as the wide resonance of this issue with public opinion in Bulgaria.
