На 15 юни 2009 г. вицепрезидентът на Р. България г-н Ангел Марин поднесе венец пред паметника на незнайния воин в Националния гробищен парк в Арлингтън, Вирджиния, отдавайки почит пред паметта на почиващите там герои на Америка. По време на церемонията, вицепрезидентът Марин бе придружен от посланик Лъчезар Петков, генерал-майор Върбанов, аташе по отбраната, дипломати от посолството във Вашингтон, както и от членовете на придружаващата го делегация, включваща и представители на обществеността на град Батак.

On June 15th 2009 the Vice-President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr. Angel Marin presented a wreath to the Tomb of the unknown soldier in the Arlington National Cemetery in commemoration of the heroes of the United States whose remains are resting there. The ceremony was also attended by the Bulgarian Ambassador, H.E. Latchezar Petkov, by Major-General Varbanov, Defense Attache of the Republic of Bulgaria as well as by other diplomats from the Bulgarian Embassy in Washington and the Vice-President’s delegation including representatives from the town of Batak.
