На 13 юни 2009 г., вицепрезидентът на Република България г-н Ангел Марин и водената от него делегация участваха в тържествата, посветени на 165-годишнината от рождението на американския журналист и военен кореспондент Джанюариъс Макгахан, проведени в родния му град Ню Лексингтън, щата Охайо. Г-н Ангел Марин се поклони на гроба на журналиста и разпръсна шепа пръст от земята на град Батак, за да почива той и на българска земя. На честването присъстваха над 100 представители на българската общност от близките на Охайо щати, както и американски граждани от Българо-американската фондация „Макгахан”.
Вицепрезидентът Марин се срещна и разговаря с кмета на Ню Лексингтън, г-жа Джанин Конрад, със сенатор Тим Шейфър и конгресмен Дан Дот от Щатското събрание на Охайо. ---

On June 13th 2009 the Vice-President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr. Angel Marin took part in the festival dedicated to the 165th Anniversary from the birth of the American journalist and war correspondent, Januarius MacGahan in his home town of New Lexington, Ohio. Vice-President Marin knelt in front of the tomb of the journalist and sprinkled over it a handful of earth brought from the town of Batak so that the remains of MacGahan would lie in a piece of Bulgaria too. The festival was attended by over 100 representatives of the Bulgarian community from the neighboring states as well as by American citizens from the Bulgarian-American foundation MacGahan.
Vice-President Marin met and spoke to the Mayor of New Lexington, Mrs. Janine Conrad, with Senator Tim Schaffer and Representative Dan Dodd from the Ohio General Assembly.
